Epuni Care and Protection residence OPCAT monitoring report

Mana Mokopuna conducted a full unannounced visit to Epuni Care and Protection Residence (Epuni) between 10-12 March 2025 as part of its monitoring visit programme. The objective of our OPCAT Monitoring as a National Preventative Mechanism is to prevent ill-treatment in all places where mokopuna are deprived of their liberty, by regularly monitoring and assessing the standard of care experienced in these facilities.

As per our usual process, our initial findings are reported at facility and Oranga Tamariki national office level in real-time following this monitoring visit.

This report shares the findings from the monitoring visit and recommends actions to address any issues identified.
