Child Protection Policy – Te Ao Māori Addendum

The purpose of this Addendum is to affirm the commitment of Mana Mokopuna – Children’s Commissioner to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi, supporting Māori self-determination, and embedding Māori values, protective constructs and worldviews into all child protection practice.

This Addendum forms an integral part of the Mana Mokopuna – Children’s Commissioner Child Protection Policy. It guides the application of tikanga, whakapapa-based protective constructs and Māori relational values so that practice strengthens belonging, upholds mana and prevents further harm.
